EHI went to visit the peer volunteering programme at the Littlehampton support hub to see first-hand how funding is being put to use and witness training in action.
This grant funded a valuable community project to help grow the number of peer volunteers, supporting people with mental health problems and helping them take steps towards employment, education and training.
Marc Boughton and Mark Hill came to visit the final session of our first eight-week peer volunteering training programme and got to meet four of our peer volunteers, Alex, Heather, Elissa and Mary.
It is clear that the peer volunteers are all excited about using their lived experience to support our service users, and some definitely see this a route for them to develop confidence and skills to move into employment and to support their own recovery journey. Indeed one of them has already been successful in getting a job.
