Our Team
East Head Impact was founded by Marc Boughton and incorporated as a company limited by guarantee on 8th October 2021.
East Head Impact was entered onto the Register of Charities by the Charity Commission for England And Wales on the 12th November 2021 . The three Trustees and Directors were appointed on 8th October 2021. East Head Impact became operational in early 2022 and awarded its first grant in March 2022.
Marc Boughton - Founder & Chair
In 2020 Marc founded East Head Impact to provide a platform to pursue impactful and scalable philanthropy in Health, Education and The Planet.
Marc spent the majority of his career within the venture and private equity markets providing both the capital and tools to enable leadership teams to build better businesses. Marc applies similar proven methods to his venture philanthropy (the bringing together of capital and expertise for purpose). Marc, whilst a Managing Partner within the investment business at CVC Capital Partners, founded and chaired the firm’s global foundation and was a representative of the global sustainability committee. Marc also spent 13 years as a Board and Investment Committee member at Impetus, the Private Equity Industry‘s charity.
Marc cannot sit still and enjoys family time, mentoring, long distance hiking and cycling, snowboarding and dance music.
Jonathan Sykes - Trustee
Jonathan Sykes helps businesses grow and thrive, offering his expertise as both an executive and
non-executive director. Previously, he served as the Executive Chair of Carbon Intelligence, a top consulting and technology firm focused on business transformation for a net-zero world. Jonathan successfully led the firm’s sale to Accenture.
With a wealth of experience in building and expanding global digital and media businesses, and a notable background as Managing Director at Sky Sports, Jonathan also brings his legal expertise as a qualified barrister with a law degree from Inns of Court School of Law.
Outside of his professional achievements, Jon has a passion for mountain sports, cycling, and rugby.
Above all, he treasures spending time with his family and making memories with his kids.
Matthew Woods - Trustee
Matthew Woods has been a private client lawyer with Withers for 25 years and advises families on succession and governance planning where philanthropy is often an important component.
Matthew helped in the legal setup of East Head Impact, emphasising philanthropy within succession plans. He is involved with charity events at Withers and acts a charitable trustee for a family, granting funds annually and is a trustee of the Compton Verney Fund, supporting the activities of the Compton Verney House Trust.
He enjoys outdoor activities whether in the garden or walking trips in the Alps or the Dolomites usually leading the charge!
Mark Hill - Head of Philanthropy & Operations
Mark qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Ernst & Young and spent over 25 years with Rothschild as a mergers & acquisitions financial advisory banker. Rothschild is one of the world’s largest independent financial services groups providing global financial advisory, wealth management, asset management and merchant banking services.
Mark enjoys sailing, windsurfing, and paddleboarding and walking his much loved (but not very well-trained) dog around East Head.
